This year's event marked a significant upgrade as it moved to the city's newest sports venue, Audi Field, home of D.C. United. The festival has experienced tremendous growth since its modest beginnings in 2013, with a crowd of 5,000 at the St. Elizabeth Campus.
By Cecilia Mencia| DCTRENDING@ This is where most of my criticisms of The Kite Runner lie: The nearly two-and-a-half-hour show barrels forth at a breakneck pace, which doesn’t turn out to be a problem in terms of holding the audience’s attention. However, there are moments where it drags – for example, toward the end, when Hassan’s son Sohrab is upset by a scatterbrained scene that lasts five minutes and adds virtually nothing to the story.
