Charles Kaiser is the author of The Cost of Courage, The Gay Metropolis and 1968 In America. He has been a reporter for The New York Times and The Wall Street Journalist and the press critic for Newsweek. His work has appeared in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Time, New York, the New York Daily News, The New Republic, Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Magazine, Vogue, Manhattan,inc, The Advocate, The New York Review of Books, Slate, Salon and the Daily Beast. He is a member of the LGBT Journalists Hall of Fame. The Gay Metropolis, the landmark history of gay life in America, is a New York Times notable book of the year and a Lambda Literary Award winner. He has taught at Princeton, Hunter College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He has appeared in multiple documentaries about the 1960's, American journalism and LGBTQ history on CBS, PBS, CNN and VH1.
