There was a large gathering of people at the park where the shooting occurred Saturday afternoon. Large crowds were in the area as part of UC Davis campus and surrounding area’s annual Picnic Day celebration.

The crash happened near the intersection of Walnut and Laurelview avenues at roughly 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Capt. Mark Nunez. Fire crews responded to a call and found a pickup truck that had “sheared off a power pole,” Nunez said.
