By Chris Hunter| Coastside News@ Last year I wrote a column about the government renaming certain U.S. military bases, thus eliminating the long Southern attachment to Confederate leaders who had been traitors to the United States and had lost their war. All of them were committed to maintaining the slave industry. One of those places was the military base in Georgia named to honor Confederate traitor General Henry L. Benning. I was born there 37 years after it started up as Camp Benning in 1918, becoming Fort Benning in 1922.
