Biography

Chris Rudisill is a journalism instructor and Director of the Charlotte Journalism Collaborative (CJC) at Queens University of Charlotte's Knight School of Communication. With expertise in nonprofit leadership, communications and journalism, he helps organizations enhance sustainability and community impact. A champion of media collaboration, he has worked with the Solutions Journalism Network and the Collaborative Journalism Resource Hub to support local journalism collaborations in Charlotte, Delaware, Dallas, Sacramento and Asheville. He has written as a freelancer for multiple publications and has led partnerships with media outlets, educators and institutions to address key local issues and advocate for sustainable local news funding. With an educational background in fine arts and museology, Chris is also a museum nerd and lover of cultural history. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UNC Charlotte and Master's degree from Johns Hopkins University. He comes to journalism from a history of community work and his diverse experiences allow him to bring creativity and authenticity into the work. He is also an advocate for mental health and specialize in long-form narratives, solutions journalism, arts journalism and community journalism. Chris has written for Qnotes, the Charlotte-based LGBTQ+ news organization, with additional by-lines in Windy City Times, Philadelphia Gay News and LGBTQ Nation. In addition, his work has been featured in Huffington Post, Wells Fargo Viewpoints, NC Local, on Comcast Newsmakers and blogs/guides from the Center for Cooperative Media, The Lenfest Institute and Solutions Journalism Network. Most recently is designed and facilitated "From Data to Dialogue," a media training for academic researchers in the Gambrell Faculty Fellows program at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
