By Christina DaCosta| sageusa.org@ SAGE Statement on Shooting at Club Q We at SAGE are deeply saddened and outraged by the hateful and violent attack at Club Q in Colorado Springs and the tragic and senseless loss of more beautiful lives. We send our solidarity and support for the victims of this terrible shooting and their loved ones, along with the entire Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ community. As our sage elders have taught us, hate and bigotry do not die easily, and history keeps repeating itself.
By Christina DaCosta| sageusa.org@ Nobody knows better than our transgender elders what it means to refuse to be invisible. They have been, and continue to be strong, compassionate, and vibrant role models for our community. But far too often, they are left out of the narrative of our history, overlooked, or condemned. The Trans Legacy Campaign aims to celebrate the vibrancy and resiliency of older transgender community members and increase the representation of transgender elders amidst the ongoing struggles facing the community.

SAGE, or Services & Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Elders, is a non-profit organization based in New York City. Founded in 1978, it is the oldest and largest organization in the United States dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ older adults. SAGE focuses on providing essential services and advocacy to support this community. The organization offers a variety of programs, including the Friendly Visiting Program for frail and homebound LGBTQ+ elders, support groups for those living with HIV, and caregiving services tailored specifically for LGBTQ+ older individuals. SAGE also organizes national conferences addressing LGBTQ+ aging issues and operates multiple community centers in New York City that serve as resources for LGBTQ+ elders. In 2022, SAGE restructured to create two divisions, SAGEServes and SAGEVenture, to enhance service delivery and expand partnerships.
