• FDA Bans Red Dye #3, but not Red Dye 40.

The dye was already banned in 1990 in cosmetics for causing cancer in lab rats who ingested it. Fast forward 35 years, to yesterday, when it is finally banned in food, when we knew all along it caused cancer if eaten. It was also “restricted” in the EU in 1994, with allowance in cocktail cherries, aka Maraschino cherries.
