Owen Kasozi was last seen entering the J.C. Phillips Nature Preserve in Beverly near Wenham Lake about 3 p.m. Tuesday and did not return, triggering a search that involved multiple first responder departments, Beverly Police Chief John G. LeLacheur and Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker said.

The man, who was in and out of consciousness after being struck, was transported to the Harbormaster’s Winter Island Road location about 7:30 p.m. to be treated by first responders. A med flight helicopter was requested to transport the injured man from Salem Willows Park to a hospital.
