Chamonix is about an hour’s drive from the Geneva, Switzerland airport. It’s a small city of roughly eighty-five hundred near the juncture of France, Italy and Switzerland near the base of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe.

Before France I visited another country. Scotland. More precisely The Scottish Highlands in, and around, Glencoe, County Argyll. Now this part of the trip held significance for the Ancestry.com part of me. I had known very little of my mother’s heritage other than the trip from Hamilton, Kansas. That side of the family, The Beals, originated in Normandy, France.
