You know about Sally Rooney, of course, and perhaps Caroline O’Donoghue, whose The Rachel Incident was an acclaimed novel of 2023, or Naoise Dolan, whose Exciting TimesI very much enjoyed (and whom I interviewed on the Brit Lit Podcast). Immortalised by Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation, Galentine’s Day — 13th February — is a great opportunity to celebrate female friendship. Which, in turn, is a great opportunity to celebrate books about female friendship. It was tough to narrow down my picks for this one — there’s a lot of great novels, memoirs, and reported non-fiction out there that explore this theme.
