UT Health San Antonio is a prominent academic health science center established in 1959, with operations beginning in 1968. It has evolved from the South Texas Medical School into a comprehensive institution that significantly contributes to San Antonio's health care and biosciences sector. The university comprises six professional schools: medicine, nursing, dentistry, health professions, graduate biomedical sciences, and public health.
