With no trading, the index also remained unchanged for the week. Butterfield rose 25 cents (0.67 per cent) on the New York Stock Exchange to close the day at $37.48, with 133,363 shares traded. It closed the week 5.70 per cent higher.

Mr Romeo, who took up the post on April 7, will report to Michael Cross, president of Acrisure Re North America. He will lead the local team with a mandate to grow the business, improve service capabilities and build out a high-performing team.

He will also work closely with ASR's capacity providers, including Lloyd's syndicates supporting the Africa-focused Baobab consortium.
