By Clark Rasmussen| DetroitHockey.Net@ I’m going to start with my initial reaction to the Red Wings’ lone trade today. Did not expect to come out of surgery and see that the Red Wings moved Joe Veleno for Petr Mrazek. Am I still sedated? — DetroitHockey.Net (@detroithockey.net) March 7, 2025 at 2:25 PMThis was just extremely unexpected. With defense and a replacement for Andrew Copp looking like priorities, the Red Wings went out and got a goalie and a bottom-six forward (Craig Smith, who I did not mention in that post on Bluesky).
By Clark Rasmussen| DetroitHockey.Net@ I love the NHL trade deadline. I talked about spectacle in my post about the Columbus Stadium Series game and the trade deadline – like the opening of free agency – is league-wide spectacle. I’m frustrated to be missing most of it this time around, in addition to having had to sell my tickets to tonight’s game against Utah. I’ve been stuck in the hospital all week and don’t expect to be discharged until right about the moment of the trade deadline.
