Painted in the summer of 2002 by John Pugh, a noted mural artist, and New Zealand artist Marc Spijkerbosch, the gigantic mural commemorated both the famed Tehachapi Loop and the 1952 earthquake. It was installed on the side of a commercial building at the corner of Tehachapi Boulevard and Pauley Street, welcoming visitors to downtown for more than a decade.
