Biography

I'm a freelance travel writer focusing on bars and spirits in the United States and abroad. Author of "Ted Mack and America's First Black Owned Brewery: The Rise and Fall of Peoples Beer," Co-Author of "Bucket List Bars: Historic Saloons, Pubs and Dives of America" (second edition in print November, 2018), "Craptails: The Worlds Worst, Weirdest, and Most Disturbing Drinks," and "Drunken History." I've been featured on PBS, the Today Show, and NPR about bar travel and the disappearing neighborhood tavern. Also, write spirit reviews and guides, and judge spirit competitions. Articles have appeared in Huffington Post (back when), Fodors, Eater, amd Barleycorn Drinks. When I'm not doing all that, I'm teaching writing and professional communication at the illustrious New Mexico State University.
