It comes as the community is still on edge from a previous spike, which led to the temporary shutdown of a plastics plant that Aamjiwnaang First Nation says is spewing large amounts of the cancer-causing chemical benzene. Aamjiwnaang declared the state of emergency April 25 to ensure resources would be in place to respond to the issue.
