Biography

Connor Steffen is a Multi-Skilled Journalist for WHAS11 News. He joined the team in May 2022 after graduating from Kent State University. Previously, Connor spent his junior and senior year of college working for WFMJ 21 News as multimedia journalist, in Youngstown, OH. Connor’s career began in public radio with WKSU-FM. He spent about a year with the Northeast Ohio NPR-member station, working as an on-air and digital reporter. Connor has also held various roles with Kent State’s student-run television station TV2: anchoring, reporting, executive-producing and serving as news director. Connor has received recognitions from the Knight Foundation, College Media Association and Kent State Division of Equity and Inclusion for his reporting. He’s also the recipient of two Hearst Journalism Awards, three Mark of Excellence awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and an ACP Individual Award from Associated Collegiate Press.
