By Connor Youngberg| Music mxdwn@ ETERNAL HOURS OF CHILLING INSTRUMENTALSExperimental metal duo The Body, Lee Buford and Chip King, teamed up with Dis Fig, Felicia Chen to release their first album together, Orchards of a Futile Heaven. The project consists of seven songs, all of which are well crafted and individual, despite having a distinct style. The sound from The Body feels apocalyptic, which pairs extremely well with the soft, but haunting, vocals of Dis Fig.
By Connor Youngberg| Music mxdwn@ ALIVE IN THE ARMS OF DEATHAfter a 13 year hiatus, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum returned to release their fifth album, of the Last Human Being, on Feb. 23. The band’s resurrected for 13 songs that create an indescribable atmosphere that makes listening to this album a real experience.
By Connor Youngberg| Music mxdwn@ You Could Do It All AgainSwervedriver’s Adam Franklin released his first album under the name, Bolts of Melody, along with many collaborators, on January 19. This isn’t the first time Franklin has launched the Bolts of Melody project, releasing two albums under the Adam Franklin & Bolts of Melody name. However, this 2024 rendition comes with a new, largely instrumental feel. The name “Film Noir” is quite fitting, as this project feels like a film soundtrack at times and a film score at others.
