Biography

Cory Frye is an award-winning journalist and editor with 30 years of experience wrestling pulp in various forms. His work has appeared in the Albany Democrat-Herald (Albany, OR), Corvallis Gazette-Times (Corvallis, OR), the Oregonian (Portland, OR), Under the Radar, Hit List, Yahoo! Music, Trunkworthy, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He published his first book, "Murder in Linn County, Oregon: The True Story of the Legendary Plainview Killings," in 2016. If you still own albums, primarily the retrospective kind, you may have encountered his paragraphs in Rhino Entertainment's reissues of Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks" and "His Band and the Street Choir," as well as Little Feat's "Electrif Lycanthrope" (a 2021 Record Store Day special), and Omnivore's "Richard Pryor: Live at the Comedy Store 1973." He even co-produced a pair of releases, the deliriously slaughtered "Whatever: The '90s Pop & Culture Box" (2005) and the better-acclaimed Afghan Whigs career compendium, "Unbreakable" (2007). He's currently at work on his second book, a detailed appraisal of comedians Dan Rowan and Dick Martin. Frye currently resides in Peoria, Arizona.
