Biography

My specialty and passion is writing about travel and authentic food, arts, and culture experiences. Fortunately, I have two great avenues with which to do that, as publisher and managing editor of two websites, RealFoodTraveler.com and InGoodTasteDenver.com. I also manage the weekly #FoodTravelChat on X, Instagram and BlueSky. My background is in marketing/public relations, writing, and editing. Although I've written about a wide variety of topics. it is travel and culinary that interest me the most. With experience on both sides of the "fence" allows me to understand the marketing needs of destinations/restaurants/purveyors, etc. while addressing the needs of my readers and podcast listeners. It's an ideal balance.

  • Two Easy Mocktail Recipes for Dry January

By Courtney Drake-McDonough Verified| Real Food Traveler Verified Skipping the alcohol doesn’t mean skipping the flavor or the fun of a cocktail. Here are two “mocktail” recipes to try, both from companies who have a variety of products that will inspire you to create your own repertoire of non-alcoholic drinks at home. Blackberry Turmeric MocktailBuchi has a range of botanically-based kefir sodas and kombuchas. They boost the beneficial bacteria in the gut, which has been linked to improved mental wellbeing.
