Classically Black Podcast

It's difficult to be black in classical music. From your teachers to your peers to your studio mates; few people look like you. In trying to find a sense of community in the classical music profession, one often feels lost. And with less than 5% of American Orchestras containing musicians of color, the classical music world mirrors the lack of diversity of our institutions. The Classically Black Podcast was founded out of necessity as a way to share stories, anecdotes, and personal experiences navigating both the music conservatory and the classical music world from the perspective of two black women. Come join Dalanie and Katie as they talk all things classical music, being black in the profession with trap beats playing in the background. Tune in to hear an unfiltered, candid, hilarious take on the issues that affect black classical musicians in their everyday lives.
