Danica studied journalism and public relations at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, where she served as editor-in-chief of the student magazine and online newspaper. During her college career, she also spent a semester studying at the Washington Journalism Center and interning at a startup incubator in D.C., reported for The Jackson Sun and freelanced for other publications in Arkansas and Tennessee. In 2016, she joined Community Impact as a reporter covering local government, education, health care, real estate, development, business and transportation in northwest Houston. She was promoted to editor in 2020 and continues to cover local issues and serve as a leader in her newsroom. Danica was named Editor of the Year in 2022 and has earned several awards for her work.
