In a submission to the Productivity Commission, the NMHC and NSPO said there has been “no overarching national strategic framework for mental health since the Fifth National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan in 2017”.

In the four years to June 2024, Victorian Public Service-employed nurses’ pay rose 43.3% from $90,600 to $129,855. This is a less impressive figure than it sounds because only three nurses were directly employed in the VPS data collected last year, down from a high of 281 in 2021.
