Daniel Shular is a photojournalist based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, working on staff at the Tulsa World. He is a master's candidate for the Missouri School of Journalism at the University of Missouri - Columbia, has a BFA in Photography from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and a degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia from East Central College. As a freelance photojournalist, Shular covered events across the United States like the 2020 presidential election, the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the reaction to the murder of George Floyd. His work has been included in gallery shows and his photos and videos have been published by the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, NBC, Insider, and Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning feature film BlacKkKlansman. Previously, Shular has worked in the newsrooms of MLive at the Grand Rapids Press, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Hartford Courant, and as a staff photographer and photo editor at the Columbia Missourian. While at the University of Missouri, he was a graduate research assistant at the McDougall Center for Photojournalism Studies and the Photojournalism Hall of Fame, and he also worked as a volunteer for Pictures of the Year International (POYi) and College Photographer of the Year.
