I'm a journalist, producer, and community engagement storyteller with a passion for elevating underrepresented voices and fostering trust between newsrooms and the communities they serve. Currently, I serve as a Community Listening Ambassador for Capital B Atlanta, where I gather insights directly from residents to help shape local reporting that truly reflects community needs. Previously, I was a Community Engagement Producer at WFAE 90.7, where I connected reporters with grassroots leaders, produced public events that sparked dialogue, and helped create space for authentic community narratives. From 2020 to 2023, I was a Report for America Corps member, reporting with empathy and purpose for local publications including QCityMetro and CharlotteFive. My reporting is always fact-driven, people-centered, and rooted in the belief that journalism should serve the public good. My work spans digital, audio, and community-based storytelling, and I’m deeply invested in building more equitable and inclusive newsrooms. The U.S. has the highest number of pregnancy-related deaths of any developed nation. During the pandemic, those numbers increased. In North Carolina in particular, maternal health gets poor marks. The numbers here, and around the country, are astounding. Why do Americans continue to die during childbirth? And what resources do expecting parents have to combat the crisis?
By Dante Miller Verified| WFAE-FM (Charlotte, NC) Verified Maternal mortality has increased dramatically in the U.S. According to a recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report, the rate in 2021 was 32.9 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births, which is more than ten times the estimated rates compared to other industrialized countries. Experts believe that the COVID-19 pandemic played a role in the increase in numbers. Still, social determinants of health, such as age, race, income and location, have also contributed to higher mortality rates.

As a suicide survivor, Bryant knows how many people who have thoughts of suicide are feeling. Alone. She learned that the parking deck was the City Green parking deck in uptown. She called the parking deck's managers and devised a game plan to help prevent more deaths by suicide.
