By Dave Trott| davetrott.co.uk@ Many years ago, when I was a junior at BMP, I used to get the tube at Paddington. Waiting for the train, you’ve got nothing to do but look at the cross-track posters. I looked down the platform and, at one end, was always a Jack Daniels’ poster. It was a 16-sheet (one third of a long 48-sheet) and I’d usually walk the length of the platform to read it.
By Dave Trott| davetrott.co.uk@ In the Bond movie ‘Casino Royale’ you learn the secret of winning at poker. You have to spot your opponent’s ‘tell’. The ‘tell’ is their reaction to seeing their cards and knowing they’ve got a winning hand. In the movie, Bond spots his opponent’s ‘tell’, which is scratching his eyelid. This allows Bond to fold his cards and only bet when he knows he has a better hand. It’s a definite advantage, the only problem is it isn’t true. I heard a professional poker player being interviewed on the radio.
