David King is a journalist, writer, and part-time graphic designer. He also codes, with nothing to show for it. A journalist from Volumes 57-59 of Arthur, he currently serves as its current volume's Editor-in-Chief. He is entering his fifth year in Cultural Studies at Trent University, his first choice school back in 2016. His current academic focus includes trans autotheory, internet culture, and broadcast arts. Previously a Summer Broadcast Journalist at Trent Radio, his resume also includes “weed store middle manager,” “barista at a tax front,” and “section editor for a student magazine one time.” Once, his photo appeared in a National Post op-ed calling protesters "militant trans activists." Despite being doxxed as a result of this exposure, he has never returned from this peak.

Arthur Newspaper was established in 1966 as Trent University and Peterborough-Nogojiwanong's independent student press. Arthur is free from administrative and commercial controls. We strive to protect that position by defending our editorial autonomy, and inviting public conversation on educational, social, economic, environmental and political issues. Our goal as an online and print publication is to be valuable, constructive, informative and critical of developments in the Peterborough-Nogojiwanong and Trent community. Arthur's uniqueness stems from its creation by students, for students. It was founded by alumnus Stephen Stohn (‘66-'69), who saw the importance of creating a media outlet to represent student interests in Peterborough-Nogojiwanong. He sought help from the Peterborough Examiner, and demonstrated how students can make meaningful contributions to their communities. We see Arthur as an integral part of Peterborough's media landscape – a bridge between the city and the university. We aim to help the next generation of journalists build skills and find their fervour for independent media.
