The new CX-80 has the makings of a very capable tow car. Buyers have the choice of plug-in hybrid and diesel power. Both share the same 2500kg towing capacity, but it’s the diesel that ought to be better suited to towing. Although the plug-in hybrid is the quicker of the two on paper, the mid-range pull of the diesel (406lb ft) should easily cope with a sensible car/caravan match.
It's a shame there's no diesel or 4x4 available but the petrol KGM Actyon K50 is approved to pull up to 1500kg

The Korean car maker has a history of building tough, go-anywhere tow cars such as the Korando and the Rexton. While sometimes a little rough around the edges, SsangYongs have usually cost far less than the competition. Under the new owners, KGM is still focusing on value for money, but through superb standard equipment and keen, rather than bargain-basement, pricing. For caravanners, it’s a shame there’s no diesel or 4×4 for towing.
