But many may not know that several smaller Jackson County towns had their own newspapers back in the day as well. For example both Andrew and La Motte has their own newspapers for a time; and in fact, Andrew had one of the earliest newspapers in Jackson County, The Western Democrat, which was first published in 1851 by J.B. Dorr.

• Prichard family appeals lawsuit

This comes just weeks after a federal judge dismissed their claims against the Bellevue Police Department.
