You are walking along, and spot movement when all you thought was there was sand and kelp (and likely some plastic and trash). The movement stops until you get closer again. You scan ahead, and maybe now you see multiple small, sandy-backed, white-bellied shorebirds with short flesh-colored legs, climbing up and down the sand and resting in footprints, tire tracks and other sandy depressions.
