(WBTW) — Students at two Scotland County schools will have Thursday off because of a broken water main, the district said Thursday morning. Sycamore Lane Primary and Sycamore Lane Elementary students who have already been picked up by their bus will be taken to school, allowed to go into the cafeteria for breakfast, and then placed back on the bus to be returned home. “Car riders will be informed of the situation as they arrive,” the district said.

(WBTW) — A section of southbound Highway 31 near Highway 501 has been shut down after a commercial vehicle and trailer overturned, according to Horry County Fire Rescue. One person has been taken to the hospital, and the southbound lanes of the highway are expected to be blocked for an extended period of time, HCFR said. Crews were called out at 2:50 p.m.Heavy-duty towing crews will be working to right the overturned vehicle, HCFR said.
