In an email to CTV News, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DTI) spokesperson Jacob MacDonald said they’ve recently made the decision to dismantle the Shepody River #3 covered bridge. Located near Riverside-Albert, the 19-metre bridge was closed last June after a regular inspection.

Havelock Fire and Rescue Chief Anthony Demont said they received a call of a fire at a home on Alward Road around 7:30. Demont said when firefighters arrived a small home was “fully involved” and a car parked next to it was also on fire. “One fatality, male,” said Demont. Around 35 firefighters from Havelock and nearby Petitcodiac responded to the call.
