Devonte Amos will be the new Rolling Meadows head football coach this season, one of several in the northwest suburbs. Amos will be taking over a program that qualified for the playoffs last year for the first time in three seasons. That team was headed up by former Chicago Bears kicker Robbie Gould, who resigned to take the coaching reins at St. Viator. Amos was a three-year starter for the Mustangs from 2014-2016.

  • Baseball: Palatine’s late scoring spree beats Wheeling

The Pirates, who pounded out 32 hits in their last three games, found themselves with just three after five innings at home against Wheeling. To matters even worse, Palatine trailed a spirited Wildcat team 6-1. Then the eruption took place. Palatine spurted its own lava with hits that turned into a 9-run sixth inning as the Pirates rallied for a 10-6 win over Wheeling.
