Born and raised in Brgy. Wawa, Nasugbu, Batangas, Domcar ‘Dom’ Lagto is currently a School Head at Natipuan Elementary School, director, cinematographer, video editor, freelance photojournalist, graphic designer, visual artist, and a surfer. After winning major awards in his first short film “TATAY” in DepEd NCCT Rated PG: “Paano Gagabayan sina Inay at Itay sa Panonood ng TV” BIDA SA MEDIA AWARDS 2012, he was inspired to continue telling stories through visual media. “The Stoked” is his second short film depicting the life of a teacher who wants to complete the missing piece in his life and found happiness through surfing, skimboarding, and skateboarding photographed in his very own neighborhood in Nasugbu. It won Jury Prize Award, Best in Sound Design, and Best in Poster in Ala Eh Film Festival 2012. His film “Ngiti sa Piso” got the Audience Choice in PELIKULTURA 2014 held at UP Los Banos. Dom’s journey in filmmaking began over 10 years ago, producing short films and mini-documentaries at Batangas Province. Since then, Dom has developed an honest and truly personal approach to visual storytelling. This intimate approach was borne of Dom’s time in front of the camera and event directing.
