Maryland Association of Counties

The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that represents all 24 counties in Maryland, including Baltimore City. It serves as the unified voice for county governments, advocating for policies that enhance local governance. MACo's membership includes elected officials and representatives from Maryland’s counties, who work together to shape legislative priorities through an elected Board of Directors and a volunteer Legislative Committee. MACo offers a range of services, including advocacy before the Maryland General Assembly, educational conferences, and training workshops aimed at improving governance skills. The organization also facilitates collaboration among counties, state leaders, and affiliate organizations to tackle shared challenges. Additionally, MACo supports diversity initiatives through the Maryland County Officials Diversity Caucus, which promotes policies benefiting underrepresented communities. Its key outputs include conference programming and resource libraries that provide educational materials on governance and public administration.
