Green Hill, Mt. Juliet and Wilson Central all made the Class 5A playoffs in 2022 from Region 5-5A while both Lebanon and Cookeville advanced to the TSSAA postseason from Region 3-6A and Gallatin reached the playoffs from Region 5-6A. The only team that didn’t reach the postseason in the new region was Warren County.

Coach Gavin Webster’s squad went through an up and down year, going 4-6 and missing out on the TSSAA playoffs for the first time since 2014. Since Webster took over in 2005, the Purple Tigers had made 13 playoff appearances (2005, 2007 and 2009 in 1A and 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 in 2A).
