Doug Has worked as a business journalist in Delaware for more than 30 years in Wisconsin and Delaware. He is the founding editor of the Delaware Business Ledger, which was published between 1994 and 2010 and from 1987 to 1994, editor of the Delaware Business Review. Doug also served as business reporter/columnist for the La Crosse Tribune in Wisconsin.

  • Wilmington and Western Railroad announces excursions in fall, but later takes down post

It follows a torrent of criticism from volunteers and staff dismissals. The line earlier this year announced a decision to halt service, citing the need to work on equipment, but offered no timeline on when excursions would resume. According to the railroad's website the  board will be in charge of the railroad with the roadmaster serving as the sole employee.

  • Lidl to open long-vacant location in Bear

    By Doug Rainey|Delaware Business NowVerifiedIt's official. Lidl announced, via roadside sign, plans to open its long-shuttered store off Route 40 in Bear. The trailer-mounted sign was rolled out on Thursday after activity was spotted in the building this week, with filled dumpsters. Lidl is not yet advertising for staff for  the store in Bear, which is across the street from a popular Food Lion location. The Lidl location  was completed three years ago but never opened its doors. It has since  been dubbed a "zombie" supermarket.
