www.elainefrancis.com Elaine Francis is an NMC registered nurse and freelance writer with 20 years of experience working in front-line healthcare in the North East of England. A background in cardiology sparked her interest in health education, modifiable risk, realistic medicine and palliative care. With a lifelong love of the written word she cut back on nursing to pursue a career in medical communications. She gained her professional registration and BSc (Hons) in Practice Development at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle Upon Tyne and is currently working towards an MA in History of Medicine at Newcastle University. Elaine accepted the post of Information and Communications Officer at Healthwatch Newcastle and Gateshead in August 2022. She's excited about improving accessibility and public engagement for grassroots health and social care service improvement.
