Elisa Parhad is a writer and photographer in Los Angeles, by way of Seattle, Albuquerque, Austin and Japan. Whether at home or abroad, she travels with a camera, curiosity, and an anthropological eye towards art, design, cultural heritage, and history. Elisa's stories and photographs have been published in the Los Angeles Times, Travel + Leisure, Delta Sky, Hemispheres, BBC Travel, FACES magazine, Western Art and Architecture, and GardenCollage.com. Assignments have brought her to tofu factories, tiki bars, train station bento box shops, Korean spas, canyon vistas, and futuristic food labs. Elisa also has a thing for books. She is the author/creator of “New Mexico: A Guide for the Eyes,” (winner of the New Mexico Book Award, 2010) and “Southern California: A Guide for the Eyes” (INDIEFab Finalist, 2016). A new book about adventuring in the West will debut in 2023. Her first children’s book, "Los Angeles Is...", came out in April 2018 (Cameron Kids) to be followed by "Pool Party," (Cameron Kids, 2022) and "New York Is..." (Cameron Kids, 2022).
