The Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) is a nonprofit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia, established in 1948 by Southern governors and legislators. It is the first regional interstate compact for education in the United States, dedicated to improving education across its 16 member states, which include Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
