The State News is an independent nonprofit student media organization serving Michigan State University (MSU). Founded in March 1909, it began as the Holcad and evolved into the Michigan State News. The organization distributes a print newspaper every Tuesday during the fall and spring semesters, alongside its digital platform, StateNews.com, which offers up-to-date news and information. As one of the last independent nonprofit higher education media organizations in the country, The State News maintains editorial independence.
