The proposal would get rid of live disciplinary hearings and replace them with a civil rights investigations model used in formal Title IX resolutions. According to Molly Newton, Senior Associate Dean of Students, the Student Affairs office has been working on revising the policy since 2020 because of evolving student needs.
By Ella Beiser Verified| The Bates Student Verified During the first two weeks of Short Term, Bates students, faculty and staff will be able to attend one-time language and culture classes taught by their peers. The program, titled Short-term Peer-led Enrichment Language Lessons, or SPELL, is intended to “raise awareness and promote appreciation for linguistic and cultural diversity” according to the program’s website. Keiko Konoeda, lecturer in Japanese, is the grant host for this pilot program.
