He served for two years and continued for an additional six in the Army National Guard. Entrepreneurship beckoned at 20 when he started a carpet cleaning business, later selling it to pursue college in Lake Palestine while working at Trane air conditioning. In the '90s, Elliott faced personal trials, from marriage at 19 to divorce at 27. His entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of Snagged Log Fishing Supply, an endeavor curtailed by the '90s drought. A shift to construction at 27 saw Elliott building custom homes and mastering metal roofing. His career trajectory led to an Assistant Manager role at Metal Mart and eventually managing his own store in Monroe, Louisiana. Life's demands brought Elliott back to Lufkin, Texas, where he worked at Lufkin Industries, welding 18-wheeler trailers. A turning point in 2006, marked by an accident, fueled the founding of Palmer Construction. Specializing in home construction and remodeling, Elliott's business thrived until 2020. In recent years, Elliott found solace and fulfillment in literary pursuits.
