That's the chant hundreds recited as they marched to the State Capitol on Wednesday afternoon to demand $480 million in state funding for childcare. The march, followed by a rally on the Capitol steps was sponsored by the Wisconsin Head Start Association (WHSA), the Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA) and Raising Wisconsin. Organizers estimate 350 people were in attendance.

That's why the Salvation Army of Dane County is restarting an expansion project. "It was never designed to be a shelter," Melissa Sorensen, the executive director of social services for the shelter said. The women's shelter on East Washington Avenue in Madison is serving nearly 70 more women a night than it did during the pandemic.
