Biography
I am a multimedia journalist, digital media strategist, editor, writer, systems expert, content programmer and designer based in New York City. I spend a lot of time playing with words and photos, turning them into digestible and engaging pieces of content, and practically live in the trenches of Google Analytics, utilizing data and metrics to guide editorial strategy, grow audiences and build communities. I most recently launched a fledgling side-gig called ECG Edit—a brand built for freelancers, solopreneurs and anyone just trying to stay organized who who want to get things done without killing their imagination or joy. The mission? To take creatives from procrastination to productivity without it feeling like work. Check it out at ecgedit.com and get my first guided workbook, Brain Dump to Breakthrough, currently available on Amazon! I currently work full-time as the Health Editor at Flow Space, a SHE Media's focused solely on midlife women's health where I lead the day-to-day digital content strategy—from online articles to Flow Space's bi-weekly newsletter—manage a staff writer and large pool of freelancers, and work closely with the site's editor-in-chief to develop and drive overall brand strategy and larger projects . Prior to joining Flow Space, I worked as the Content Director of MyRegistry.com's marketing team after a brief stint working across Horoscope.com, Astrology.com and Sunsigns.com as Director of Audience Development for Ingenio's Media Team. Before joining Ingenio, I was with Worth Media, where I oversaw all content strategy and execution—from daily online stories and large-scale partnerships to production of a quarterly print magazine and editorially aligned events—as Editorial Director. Leading up to my time at Worth, I worked as Senior Editor at Observer (formerly the New York Observer), where I built out its Business, Tech and Innovation vertical—refining beats, recruiting expert contributors and leading a large team of staff reporters and freelancers. Previously, I worked as Director of Digital Media at High Times, where my job included planning, assigning, writing, executing and distributing all online content, including articles, social media, digital marketing campaigns and Cannabis Cup event coverage, while ensuring a pixel-perfect web experience. In addition, I spent the beginning of my New York City-based career as a Home Page Managing Editor and New Curator at AOL, where I curated and programmed homepage modules—selecting the most compelling headlines, imagery and story angles to maximize traffic and engagement across both partner sites and AOL articles. In the past, I have worked as a staff writer, photographer, designer, copy editor, fact-checker, section editor, managing editor and senior editor for a wide array of newspapers, magazines and websites. I am originally from the South and have a degree in journalism with a specialization in magazine editorial and design from the University of Mississippi.
