  • Dynamical friction and black holes in ultralight dark matter solitons

By Russell Boey, Yourong Wang, Emily Kendall Verified| Physical Review B@ We numerically simulate the motion of a black hole as it plunges radially through an ultralight dark matter (ULDM) soliton. We investigate the timescale in which dynamical friction reduces the kinetic energy of the black hole to a minimum and consider the sensitivity of this timescale to changes in the ULDM particle mass, the total soliton mass, and the mass of the black hole.

By Emily Kendall Verified| Yahoo Canada Verified • None My son was born with Down syndrome; a nurse told me not to expect much success breastfeeding him. • None I ignored her and hired a lactation consultant who helped my son breastfeed for 10 months. • None The experience strengthened me and taught me how to advocate for myself and my son. My son's bedside bustled with activity after medical staff transferred him to the NICU. Five days postpartum and post-Down-syndrome diagnosis, I stood in my nursing pajamas adjusting to our new location.
