  • Leavenworth Reindeer Farm opens with contest for new baby names

By Emily Thornton Verified| Wenatchee World Verified People can help name soon-to-arrive babies at the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm through April 19. Names need to be from favorite movies, such as Elsa, Sven and Olaf from “Frozen.” However, those names are already among the 39 reindeer at the farm, according to a social media post. To enter, donate $5 for one name entry, $10 for three name entries, or $25 for 10 name entries. Donations help support the farm and its partners at the Caribou Conservation Alliance.

The Chelan County PUD is making improvements in phases along the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail — which began in June 2024 — between the railway area and Ninth Street. Enhancements are a joint effort between the PUD and the city of Wenatchee.
