Biography

I'm a freelance journalist and writer currently based in London, having studied English at the University of Birmingham. I occupied myself there mostly by, well, studying, but also by writing for student newspaper Redbrick, singing ridiculous opera lyrics in Gilbert and Sullivan Society shows and playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. I'm happiest writing about books and films, especially with regard to how women and other marginalised communities are portrayed in 21st century culture. I'm also passionate about issues relating to mental health, and anything to do with human rights- particularly trans people's. When I'm not unwinding by watching Netflix, you'll probably find me lost in a book with some music playing- my current favourites are Samantha Shannon's 'The Priory of the Orange Tree' and Akala's 'Natives'. There is a 99% chance I will be eating chocolate while doing either of these things.
