Biography

I am an experienced journalist and copywriter with specialisms in hospitality, food and drink and FMCG / retail. I worked for four years as a reporter and senior reporter at The Kentish Times, gaining my NCE certificate before moving into B2B publishing. After 18 months as deputy web editor at drinks titles Off Licence News, Drinks International and Wine & Spirit, I was recruited as editor of (then) new website BigHospitality. For eight years I wrote and edited content for BigHospitality, helped define a content strategy and led a small, but growing team of journalists. I was awarded Audio Visual Journalist of the Year by WRBM in 2012 and our team won the Team of the Year. In 2017 I left to work freelance and have since been a consultant journalist for Channel 4 show Tricks of the Restaurant Trade and written features for The Grocer, The Morning Advertiser, The Staff Canteen, Micropub Magazine (closed in 2023), as well as interviews with members of the hospitality industry for Hospitality & Catering News. I wrote a regular food trends column for Food Spark (closed in 2020) and wrote for Scotchwhisky.com (closed in 2019). I also work as freelance content manager for hospitality PR and marketing agency Custard. Other commercial clients have included technology supplier Access and pharmaceutical company Teva. I launched a podcast - Sounding Out Horsham - in November 2020.
