Biography

Emma Jarratt is an investigative multimedia journalist in Toronto. She holds a Master of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University and a Bachelor of Arts from Carleton University. Emma is the Executive Editor of Electric Autonomy Canada and previously freelanced in print and broadcast, specifically concentrating on investigations, the green energy and transportation sector, conflicts and politics. Emma has worked at the national levels in both print and television, taking on some of the country's most powerful institutions and individuals, bringing humanity and understanding to sensitive issues of abuse, inequity and the mistreatment of the vulnerable and helping to build the country's leading non-profit investigative centre. Her investigations have triggered real-world impact and won awards, but, most importantly, they have driven powerful public discussions on under-reported issues, from Canada's controversial surrogacy laws to the sometimes tragic lack of regulation over medical mishaps to abuse suffered by women in the workplace. Emma's work has appeared in Canada's largest news outlets including the Investigative Journalism Bureau, CTV, W5, the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, the National Post and VICE. She has reported from eight countries and has lived abroad in Switzerland, the U.K. and Norway.
